How to grow nails fast?

Not all women choose to wear long nails, but most want a beautiful manicure that makes their hands stand out, for which an average length is suitable. In this sense, some home remedies can promote rapid nail growth, if applied regularly.

The nails are attached structures of the skin, formed by hardened dead cells that protect the fingertips and nerve endings. These are mainly composed of keratin , a protein produced naturally by the body, and calcium.

However, the hardness of the nails can be compromised, as well as their growth, due to some individual factors such as diet, lack of supplements and vitamins, as well as bad habits related to nail biting due to anxiety , stress or leisure. For its part, the constant use of chemical and abrasive cleaners can harm the health of the nails, making them weaker and more brittle.

Next, we are going to learn a little about how to promote nail growth with simple and cheap tricks that will help you achieve a very feminine manicure.

nail growth

If you are wondering how long it takes for nails to grow, you should know that they grow approximately 1 millimeter per week or every 10 days, which on average means about 6 months for the complete renewal of a nail. In this sense, due to the thickness of the fingernails, their growth rate is much faster than that of the feet.

On the other hand, the growth of the nail depends on an efficient blood supply that feeds the root of the nail. That is why if there is no good circulation, growth will be much slower.

Now, although there is no magic recipe or specific diet that will help you grow your nails immediately, we can give you some tips or teach you natural remedies that will help you have naturally beautiful, stronger and longer nails.

  • Lemon juice

The properties of lemon are widely known, since it is a versatile fruit that has bactericidal power, strengthens the immune system, improves brain function, among others. Using lemon for nails is also very useful, as its vitamin C content strengthens nails and helps them grow without sudden breakage.

To use it, it is recommended to place a tablespoon of freshly squeezed lemon juice in a container and mix with 3 tablespoons of olive oil. The mixture should be heated in the microwave for about 20 seconds. Then, we stir very well and place the nails inside the mixture, for about 15 minutes. Finally, you can rinse with warm water and dry your hands well.

Another way to take advantage of vitamin C from lemon is by cutting a slice and rubbing directly on each nail for about 5 minutes. After this time, you should rinse and dry your nails well. You can apply these treatments twice a week.

  • Garlic

Garlic is known for its ability to strengthen nails so they grow strong, as it repairs damaged structures, increases shine, and acts as a fungicide to prevent the growth of fungus or bacteria. There are different ways to use it, all very simple and cheap to apply. Here we explain some of the most popular:

Water and garlic: In a container, big enough to place your hands inside, place a little water and 3 cloves of garlic without skin and cut in half, leaving the mixture to rest for about 20 minutes. After this time, remove the garlic cloves and soak your nails for 15 minutes. You can repeat this treatment several times a week.

Garlic paste: Peel and finely mash 2 cloves of garlic to form a paste. Apply a little of this on each of the nails, leaving it to act for 10 minutes. You can also cut the garlic in half and rub each nail, just as we explained with the lemon.

Garlic enamel: In a used transparent enamel pot you must add 3 well-crushed garlic cloves and half a tablespoon of olive oil. Shake the polish well and apply it to your nails 3 times a week before bed.

  • Coconut oil

In some tips on how to care for nails, the use of coconut oil is recommended due to its moisturizing properties, both for the skin and the nail itself. In this sense, it is recommended to heat a little of the oil to apply it directly to the fingers and nails, massaging in circular motions until it is completely absorbed. With this you help to activate the blood supply to the root of the nail, favoring its growth.

  • Apple vinager

The antifungal properties of apple cider vinegar prevent the growth of bacteria on the nails and thus promote their healthy growth. To use it, you just have to mix 100 ml of vinegar with 200 ml of water and soak your nails in this solution for 15 minutes. You can do this procedure twice a week.

  • Food and hydration

The truth is that we cannot quantify how much nails grow in a given time with a specific diet, but what we can say is that a varied diet, rich in lean meats, fruits and vegetables, provides the minerals, vitamins and nutrients necessary for the healthy hair and nail growth as well. Likewise, good hydration is just as important to maintain good health and promote the growth of these parts of the body.

Additional care

In addition to the natural remedies and tips that we mentioned above to help nails grow quickly, we must also highlight some important and simple care to improve their appearance:

  • Avoid frequent use of false nails.
  • Wear gloves when using cleaning chemicals.
  • Don’t bite your nails.
  • Avoid cutting the cuticle.
  • Let the nails rest for about 48 hours before applying a new nail polish.
  • Cut the nails in a square or almond shape.
  • Use hand cream frequently, emphasizing the skin around the nails to hydrate the cuticle.
  • Sterilize your manicure tools.
