Discover the 10 most amazing uses of beer at home

Beer is one of the favorite drinks of users. Not only is it refreshing and delicious, it is nutritious and has many beneficial properties for the body. But not only that, did you know that it also has uses in your home? In this article we explain some of the most surprising uses of beer.

We do not need to remind you that, for these uses, it will not be necessary to use the best beer you have at home. With any white brand or supermarket beer it will be more than enough.

Insecticide

Beer contains sugars and yeasts, this causes its smell to attract mosquitoes and other insects, making it perfect for making an insect trap. To do it, you just have to put a little beer in a glass and cover it with a plastic film type to which you will have to make some holes.

Leave it anywhere in the house and you will see how, in a short time, there will be more than one or two insects floating in the beer.

Stain remover

It’s funny, but beer is the best way to remove a wine stain. To clean a stain from a fabric, simply rub the dirty area with a sponge that is well soaked in beer. Then, that garment should be cleaned and allowed to dry. In the event that the wine stain persists, simply repeat the process until it is removed.

Marinate the meat

The natural properties of brewer’s yeast help preserve food for longer. Beer also tenderizes meats and aromatizes them, making it an ingredient widely used by cooks around the world.

The marinating procedure is very simple, just choose the meat you want to prepare, put it in a container and pour a good amount of beer over it. You have to make sure that the meat is soaked well and everywhere. Next, cover the container with kitchen plastic and leave it in the fridge for at least two hours.

Clean pots and pans

Due to continuous use, pots and pans at home lose their natural shine. Fire, kitchen grease and oil destroy the natural appearance of these utensils. Beer, thanks to the natural acidity of some of its ingredients, is ideal for restoring the shine to copper and steel pots and pans.

As a hair softener

Do you have frizzy or dull hair? Well, beer, thanks to the malt and hops with which it is made, has properties that will help protect and repair hair cells, achieving shinier and silkier hair.

To use the beer in the shower, you first have to pour the beer into a container and let it sit for a few hours so that it loses all its gas. Next, wash your hair with your usual shampoo and then apply the beer. Wait a few minutes, let the beer work its magic and rinse with plenty of water. Finish the treatment by using your conditioner or whatever treatment you have, to remove the smell of beer.

Parquet and wood polish

One of the main problems with parquet floors is that they lose their shine. Due to continued use, the shiny layer of the wood wears away and loses its shine, leaving dull and aged-looking areas.

Luckily, wood loves beer, so you can use it to bring the shine back to its surfaces. Soak a cloth in beer and wipe it over the parquet floor or a piece of furniture to see how the shine returns to its surface.

As an additional trick, if the parquet or the furniture you are cleaning is very scratched, you can use a nut to remove the damage. Just open the nut and pass the fruit over the line, as if you were using an eraser on a pencil line.

Bring green back to your garden

Do you have “bald spots” or brown areas in your garden? Are the plants on your terrace losing their natural green? Beer, thanks to its fermented sugars, acts as a natural fertilizer for plants and lawns in general.

If you want to restore the shine to your garden, all you have to do is water the lawn with a little beer and you will stimulate the growth of the plants, and thanks to the yeast, you will eliminate the fungi and you will be able to enjoy a much healthier and more attractive lawn.

Fertilizer

As we have just explained to you, beer is a natural fertilizer, so it can be used to stimulate plant growth. Similar to the previous advice, you just have to water the root zone of the plant with beer daily and you will see how your flowers and plants grow stronger and healthier.

Get rid of slugs in your garden

Similar to insects, beer can be used to trap those pesky slugs that eat the plants in your garden.

To do this, you just have to get a jar or deep container without a lid. It must be deep, otherwise the beer will evaporate quickly and you will have to keep refilling it. Fill the flask with beer and place it underground.

You have to place the jar in an area frequented by slugs, which when passing by will notice the smell of the sugars and hops in the beer and will be attracted to it. As they fall in, they will get trapped in the jar, leaving your plants and flowers alone.

loosen stubborn screws

When a screw rusts it is almost impossible to loosen it. Luckily, the natural acids in beer, in addition to cleaning pots and pans, also serve to dissolve rust from screws.

The procedure is very simple, you just have to pour a good amount of beer on the screw you want to loosen and let it work for a few minutes. The rust will fall off in layers and you will be able to loosen it.
