The Espresso Martini is a modern creation Martini and Vodka cocktail, believed to have been invented in 1984 by Dick Bradsell, the bartender at London’s famous Soho Brasserie. According to the legend that surrounds this peculiar cocktail, it is said that it was invented expressly for Naomi Campbell, who asked the bartender for a tasty cocktail and to help her wake up from it.

Bradsell called the blend Vodka Espresso and later, when the bartender opened his own bar in London, called The Pharmacy, he changed it back to “Pharmaceutical Stimulant.” Finally, when the Martini became popular as a base for creating cocktails in the 1990s, Bradsell renamed the drink again with the title we know today. In this sense, the original recipe was a combination of vodka, white vermouth, Kahlúa and a touch of espresso.

Its preparation is very simple, since it is enough to pour all the ingredients into a shaker, fill with cubes and shake well for a few minutes. Finally, strain the cocktail over a chilled Martini glass and garnish with a couple of coffee beans.
