how to make the markers paint back

There are different home remedies that we can use to make dry markers paint again, such as alcohol or vinegar, even hot water is very useful. But in any case, you should use them properly, as the recovery process might not be very effective at times.

Markers are useful tools that are used to color, draw, create various crafts, among other uses; but they are very delicate and their duration depends on the care, the way they are stored, as well as the temperature, since if we do not use them properly they tend to dry out easily. In this sense, among the reasons why markers dry out, we can mention: the fact of not keeping them covered; in the place where we place them it is very hot or cold, or also in the event that they spend a long time without being used. But there are some home remedies that make dry markers workable again.

On this occasion, we want to give you some useful tips where we explain in a simple way how you can recover dry markers so that they can paint again.

1. For water-based markers, hot water

First of all, you can use hot water to recover a marker that has dried out, especially if it is made with a water base. To do this, you must pour warm water into a container and submerge the previously uncovered dry markers until the tip is completely submerged (which must be facing up), leaving them in that position for approximately 10 minutes.

Then, after that time has elapsed, proceed to remove the marker and let it dry. After a few minutes, you will notice that the ink flows again and you can paint as usual. The purpose of this procedure is to regenerate the aqueous base of the pen within the water.

Remember that this method only works with water-based markers, so if you are not sure that your markers are water-based, do not use this method. To know if your markers are made of water, it is convenient that you read the label of the box, you must establish this quality in some section. Another way to know if it is made of water is to verify if it is suitable for use by children, since in general, these markers are harmless and are appropriate for coloring or making different drawings.

2. Inject water to the tip

This remedy requires a syringe with a fine needle, the hypodermic type being very useful. To use this technique, it is recommended to be very careful and wear protective gloves to avoid accidental punctures. Now, proceed to fill the syringe with water and insert the needle into the head or tip of the pen, injecting at least 1 ml of water. Leave the marker for several hours so that its ink is restored and you can use it again without problems. Keep in mind that in each of these processes, you have to cover the marker correctly so that it lasts longer.

3. White vinegar

Another interesting method to recover dry markers is to use white vinegar, placing the markers head down in a container and moistening it with a few small drops of the liquid. Wait a reasonable time for the absorption of the vinegar to occur, then you should dry the markers with a dry and soft piece of cloth. When you use your markers again, you will notice the improvement in the line and it will be useful again effectively.

4. For permanent markers, use isopropyl alcohol

You could also use isopropyl alcohol to restore dry markers by dipping the tip of the marker into the alcohol solution. This procedure is especially recommended for permanent markers. To use this method, it is recommended to use a small container with alcohol and then insert the tip of the markers into the container for approximately 10 minutes. After that time, remove the markers from the liquid and let them dry with the tip covered. Once dry, you will notice that the markers have been activated again and will be functional.

5. Restore a highlighter pen

In this case, it is also appropriate to use isopropyl alcohol to revive this type of marker. To do this, according to the previous step, proceed to introduce the tip of the marker into the alcohol for a few seconds, waiting for the liquid to impregnate the tip well, pointing upwards so that the penetration is greater. Next, dry the excess liquid with paper and test it on a sheet of paper to verify that it works. Otherwise, repeat the procedure. The purpose of this remedy is to allow the dry part to let the ink flow.

How to color with markers

If you have recently acquired the best markers of 2022 (in this link you can find some purchase options), but you lack ideas to paint beautiful drawings and obtain excellent results, we are going to give you three techniques that will be very useful for you to play with colors and its coverage on paper.

uniform strokes

The first thing you should be clear about is that the marker contains liquid ink and through the head or tip of the pencil it is transferred to the sheet of paper. So, the main thing is to prevent the ink from soaking into the paper, otherwise the structure of the paper is damaged and the result can be unpleasant stains on the drawing. Try not to fill in the surfaces by scribbling or irregular lines, you should try to cover the drawing evenly and with firm strokes, applying smooth, parallel or zigzag lines, but always uniformly. Another technique that you can use is cross hatch shading, of course this procedure is somewhat more advanced and requires some skill in tracing, as it implies that you have to pass the marker at least a couple of times in one place, not being highly recommended due to the weakness of the paper. But don’t worry, if you color with parallel lines, tracing along the course of the area to be colored, you can get the best coverage with an interesting and even pattern at the same time.

color steps

You can try using the markers to apply color steps, as these are not suitable for smooth color gradients. The technique consists of applying a color, using progressively softer strokes and with the next color it is applied in the same gradual way. Another very useful technique with markers is pointillism, making the step with several small dots of different colors, depending on the design you want to color.
