Ingredients:

  • 1 kilogram of ground beef
  • 1 carrot
  • 1 white onion
  • 1 green bell pepper
  • 1 red bell pepper
  • 2 bay leaves
  • 2 cups of tomato paste
  • 1 pinch of thyme
  • 2 tablespoons of oil
  • Salt
  • Pepper

Other ingredients:

  • 4 tomatoes

Preparing the ingredients

We will start the preparation of this bolognese sauce by chopping the onion and the two peppers into small pieces. When you have it ready, turn on one of the induction plates in your kitchen, or the fire if it is the case and place a pan with oil at high temperature, to put the cut.

Stir everything with a wooden spoon until it begins to brown, being careful not to lose sight of it, as it can stick very easily.

Cooking the ground beef

When you have the sofrito ready, after approximately 5 minutes of cooking, you can incorporate the ground meat little by little, making sure to separate all the pieces with the help of the spoon, to prevent them from forming balls.

When you have added it completely, stir until it loses its characteristic reddish tone. Now add the carrot also cut into pieces along with salt and pepper to taste. Keep everything on high heat until the meat is cooked through.

Integrating the sauce

Once the meat and carrot are cooked, pour the tomato paste with the bay leaves, the thyme and a little water over the meat in the same pan, so that all the flavors are integrated. When it starts to boil after a few minutes, lower the intensity of the flame to a low level and wait for the sauce to reduce.

When it has reduced enough and you notice it is somewhat thick, turn off the heat and let it rest for approximately 20 minutes. This last step is crucial to be able to integrate all the ingredients of the Bolognese sauce, since it allows them to rest to completely release the flavors.

Other versions of the Bolognese sauce can include natural tomato, which must be previously cooked for a couple of minutes in boiling water, so that they can soften. Later, they are taken to the blender to grind them and make them a sauce that will later be incorporated into the cooking meat.

This alternative provides a different and less intense touch, being one of the favorites for those who enjoy a good plate of spaghetti Bolognese.

Plated

To serve, simply cook some pasta until al dente, then place it in a bowl and drizzle with the Bolognese sauce. You can accompany this recipe with some delicious garlic bread and also with Parmesan cheese. These add-ins work quite well with this recipe and are even capable of increasing the flavor intensity of the sauce.
