Ingredients:

  • ½ green bell pepper
  • ½ red bell pepper
  • 1 carrot
  • 1 onion
  • 1 bay leaf
  • 2 tomatoes
  • 2 garlic
  • 3kg of chicken
  • 150 ml of water
  • 1 pinch of pepper
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 tablespoon of oil

 

Other ingredients:

  • 1 sprig of coriander
  • 2 bay leaves

If you don’t know how to cook chicken, you just have to follow some basic steps, have all the necessary ingredients on hand, some utensils and a gas, electric or induction stove. Thus, you can start the preparation.

To start this chicken stew, it is necessary to take the pieces of said bird and check that the skin does not have traces of feathers. Otherwise, they will have to be burned with the help of a lighter. Then, proceed to wash the chicken under the tap and then remove excess water with kitchen paper.

Continue making a few incisions in the chicken pieces with a very sharp knife. In this way, you can sprinkle salt and pepper on the chicken pieces, leaving them to season in a container, while the other ingredients of the preparation are processed.

It is well known that all homemade stews are characterized by merging the flavor, aroma and color of some vegetables, which complement the characteristic taste of the protein used, which, on this occasion, would be chicken. To do this, the person will have to take the onions, garlic, carrots, green and red paprika, wash everything and remove the respective skin. Next, the ingredients listed above will be finely chopped. Said hash must be deposited in a bowl, since it will be used a few minutes later.

Next, select a large saucepan, pour a tablespoon of oil and place it over high heat until hot, to introduce the chicken pieces and seal them. You should only leave them for about a minute on each side while they brown.

Now, to cook the chicken you have to lower the heat level and leave half of the chicken pieces in the bottom of the pan. Thus, you can cover it with a part of the chopped carrot, onion, tomato, green and red paprika or other preferred ingredients. 

Then add the remaining chicken and pour the remaining picadillo into the bowl. You should cover the pot and let it cook for 10 minutes, pour in the water and continue the cooking process for approximately 1 hour and 20 minutes. At the end of the time, turn off the burner and let stand to serve. You can decorate the dish with a few branches of coriander or laurel.
