  • Prefers cloudy days. This step is important, because if it is a very sunny day, the product that you apply to the glass will dry very quickly and will be stained.
  • Use a glass cleaner, or household products, such as vinegar and baking soda, ammonia or alcohol. These are other very useful elements for this type of cleaning.
  • You will need a cloth, a dust cloth, a squeegee, or if you prefer, you could use old newspaper.
  • To avoid staining the floor during cleaning, remember to put an old sheet or towel before you start.
  • When you already have all the material you will need, you can start cleaning. It is advisable to start with the frames, because otherwise the glass will get dirty again if you leave it until the end. 
  • Another important tip is to clean the windows from top to bottom, because in this way you prevent the remains of water from dripping and leaving lines in areas that have already been cleaned.
  • Spray the glass cleaning solution directly onto the glass surface for maximum effectiveness, but you can also use it on a sponge or cloth.
  • Next, with a rubber brush you can remove the excess liquid.
  • On the other hand, it is recommended to clean the crystals with different movements so that there are no marks. For example, the outer part with a horizontal movement and the interior in vertical.
  • To dry the crystals it is recommended to use a lint-free microfiber cloth, old socks or newspaper.

5 homemade tricks to clean windows

Ammonia. A mixture of equal parts water and ammonia can be an effective cleaner for windows, because it is a very effective product to remove dirt. It could also be mixed with a neutral soap to clean, although the drawback of ammonia is that it is not friendly to the environment, since it is highly polluting, so it is advisable to avoid this product as much as possible.

White vinegar. Cleaning windows with vinegar is very easy, since you only have to place the product in a container with a spray bottle and apply it to the crystallized surface.

Alcohol. You can also make a solution of equal parts alcohol and water to remove fingerprints that stick to glass surfaces.

Baking soda. Another effective remedy for glass windows is cleaning with baking soda, which combined with white vinegar can be even more effective. To do this, mix four parts of water with baking soda and vinegar, spray the solution directly on the glass, leave it to act for a few minutes and proceed to clean the surface with a cloth.

Potato or onion. If you don’t know how to clean very dirty exterior windows, you could use an onion or a potato. To do this you can cut the vegetable in half and rub it gently on the surface. Subsequently, rinse with a mixture of water and white vinegar, drying with a dry microfiber cloth.

How to remove limescale from windows?

A good option is to mix 3/4 parts of vinegar with 1/4 of alcohol, water and a dash of neutral detergent, pour the mixture into a container with a spray bottle and spray it on the surface to be treated, then clean with a soft cloth and say goodbye to tartar 

Another alternative is to use vinegar mixed with lemon and baking soda, apply it to the glass and let it act for a few minutes on the surface. Then, using newspaper or a microfiber cloth, you can dry the surface and that’s it.
