Clean GRESITE POOL

Tile is one of the most widely used materials today to cover swimming pools because it is a high-quality insulator and has great resistance to moisture and chemical products. In such a context, it is not necessary to be an expert to clean a tiled pool and make it ready for summer.

Having a pool means covering maintenance costs and specialized cleaning that can affect your budget. For this reason, we want to talk to you about some important aspects that you should know about cleaning pools and learn certain practical tricks that will help you carry out maintenance without being an expert.

How to clean a pool

The first aspect to determine is to know the lining material of the pool shell, since there are some more delicate than others, so they do not accept the use of abrasive cleaners.

But, considering that our post is oriented to tile pools, we are going to talk directly about the steps to follow to clean those that are made of this material.

  • Full or empty pool

When planning pond cleaning, the first thing that comes to mind is to empty the pool. However, it is not entirely necessary because there are sanitation methods with which we can reuse the water after a hyperchlorination process with a high dose of disinfectant, such as hydrochloric acid for swimming pools.

In this way, you save money on water and, in turn, avoid wasting this important liquid.

But, if the water has been used for several seasons and the level of dirt makes it unrecoverable, then it will need to be disposed of. A more sustainable way of doing this is to slowly drain the pool and use the water to irrigate the garden.

And you don’t have to worry, because if the pool water is green it means that it doesn’t have chemical products that could affect your plants.

  • cleaning equipment

There is some equipment for domestic use designed to facilitate the cleaning of your pool, one of them is the pool cleaner, which you can put into operation when you are going to sanitize with the pool full.

It is advisable to first buy the salfuman to clean pools, prepare a bucket of clean water with two liters of this product and rub the surface and walls of the pool with the help of a brush. The idea is that the bacteria, sediments and microorganisms embedded in the tile come off and remain suspended in the water.

Subsequently, these sediments must be allowed to settle for 24 hours with the pool at rest and then place the pool cleaner and remove the dirt, while filtering the water.

In the case of emptying the pond, you can clean the pool with Karcher or another powerful pressure washer that you have at home. For this process, it will be necessary to use personal protective equipment such as goggles, gloves, waterproof boots and appropriate clothing because hydrochloric acid must be used in large quantities to reinforce sanitation.

The procedure is very simple, you just have to apply the product according to the manufacturer’s instructions, leave it on for the recommended time and then start brushing the walls to remove dirt. Next, it should be rinsed with clean water.

  • Always leave a little water

One of the secrets on how to clean an empty pool is, ironically, not to empty it completely, because when removing all the water, it is very likely that the sediments, mud and dirt will dry quickly, making it difficult to clean it completely. For this reason, it is always advisable to leave a little water to facilitate the removal of sediments, as well as the deep cleaning of the walls.

In this phase, the pressure washer will be very useful, but avoid having it within a short distance of the tile, as the power of the water could damage the tile grout.

  • pool curb

To clean the white porous stone that is placed to crown the pool, that is, on the curb, some care must be taken so as not to damage its characteristics. One of them is to avoid using pool bleach in this area because it is very abrasive.

Instead, you can use a neutral pH soap such as dishwashing soap or a natural detergent, to rub the stone in circles with a soft bristle brush. You can also use the pressure washer to remove embedded dirt in the pores.

  • Dirty bottom and calcification

If you see that the sanitization of your pool is too messy for you and you are looking for an effective alternative to clean the very dirty bottom of the pool, you can consider the chemical process of flocculation with tablets . This system creates a film on the mud and dirt to bind the impurities that will be absorbed by the cleaner.

On the other hand, when looking for a home remedy to avoid cloudy water in the pool, we quickly think of the use of common chlorine. However, it is not as simple as it seems and it is necessary to seek more specific information on the amount of chlorine to use according to the capacity of the pool, as well as the specific product for it that does not damage the tile coating.

In the case of black tile pools, it is common to notice a whitish film formed by calcification. This situation makes many wonder how to remove limescale from the pool. In these cases, a very easy homemade trick to apply for this situation is to clean with vinegar, using a 5% solution.

You also need a spray bottle to spray the surfaces by hand and a brush with soft bristles to remove limescale. Then, with the help of a pressure washer, you can remove the cleaner and lime residue.

What to do with green water?

People who have swimming pools in their homes face several challenges during the year, some of them may be how to recover the water in the pool after winter and how to lower the pH of the pool with etching, but the most common of all is how to clean the green pool without emptying.

And it is that when the pool water is green it is because a phenomenon called algae bloom has occurred . To solve this problem, superchlorination or hyperchlorination must be applied. So, we can state in simple words that it is feasible to treat a green pool with bleach, to recover the quality of the water.

In this technique, the alkalinity and pH levels are measured to know how much chlorine to apply and the algae are effectively eliminated. In this sense, the advantages of salfuman and its composition can be used to loosen organic dirt, without forgetting that they can also alter the appearance of cement or tiles.

Now, if your pool is green tile, it may take time to notice the formation of algae, so it is important to use an algaecide as a preventive method. Another homemade trick is to pour common bleach in large quantities to superchlorinate. Therefore, considering that regular bleach has a chlorine concentration of 4%, you would need 0.75 liters of bleach for each cubic meter of the pool.

As an example, it is established that for a 50 cubic meter pool you must use 37.5 liters of bleach. But, if you think that this whole process is complicated or you are worried about using chemical products, it is best to go with a company specialized in pool cleaning. So you can have the peace of mind knowing that you and your family will use a pool with water suitable for bathing to enjoy the summer without worry.
