Preparation time30 minCooking time10 min

Ingredients:

  • 250 grams of flour
  • 150 grams of butter
  • 1 egg
  • 1 handful of chocolate chips
  • 100 grams of sugar
  • 1 Teaspoon vanilla extract

Other ingredients:

  • 1 tablespoon yeast if desired

Before we begin, we mention that this recipe is for 12 people, so if you want to prepare for more guests, you must add a greater number of ingredients.

Here are the steps to prepare these delicious cookies.

Soften the butter and mix it with the sugar

The first thing is to soften the butter, which you can do in the microwave or through the “bain-marie” technique. Of course, you do this only if the butter is not soft. That is, when the butter is at room temperature it is not necessary to perform this step. Another option is to put the butter in the oven over low heat, without letting it melt.

The purpose of the butter is to add flavor and, of course, softness to the mixture when it is kneaded, so pay attention to these tips.

Next, place the softened butter in a comfortable container and mix it with the sugar. Make the mixture with a large spoon, for example, one of wood or Bakelite. When you notice that the sugar is no longer seen or felt when mixing, add both the teaspoon of vanilla essence and the egg and flour, but little by little, so that the dough does not get hard.

Shape your cookies

Once the cookie dough is ready, you should start giving them a nice shape. We recommend that you make them approximately 1 centimeter thick, so that they are better cooked and you can put chocolate chips on them without problems. However, these plain cookies can be made thicker, the downside is that they will take longer to cook and won’t yield the dough as well.

To properly shape the cookies, flatten the dough with a rolling pin and cut it into circles. Remember that if you don’t have any chocolate chips, you can use a chocolate bar, just cut the bar into very small pieces.

Also, to make these simple cookies you can use a mold, so you can give them different shapes and surprise your family. Similarly, you can make figures using a small glass.

Bake the cookies

To finish, preheat the oven to 180ºC and place the butter and chocolate cookies on a non-stick baking tray. Note that you can use a convection oven. Next, bake the cookies for 10 or 15 minutes until golden brown. Finally, wait for them to cool down and enjoy them with your family or friends.
