Learn how to get the most out of your kettle

An electric kettle is much more than an essential kitchenware for lovers of infusions, it is a versatile appliance that could provide you with features that you could not even imagine; from getting you out of a jam when you’re on the go, to preparing delicious meals quickly and easily.

In many cultures it is normal to prepare a tea for breakfast and when a kettle is not available, many use the microwave to heat the water; however, by doing this there is a high risk of burns when touching the container, since all the heat is transmitted to the cup and in order to pick it up, you have to wait until it cools completely.

For this reason, the best option for preparing infusions is a kettle, since it allows you to heat the water quickly and then safely empty it into the cup. However, beyond heating or boiling water quickly, whether for coffee, tea or to prepare your child’s bottle, this versatile little appliance can offer you more uses than you had thought before.

In this sense, in order to make the most of its efficiency, you could use it as an ally when cooking any food where hot water is needed, such as pasta. For this, you only have to put water to boil in the device and then pour it into the pot or saucepan you are cooking with. In this way you will not have to wait long for the water to heat up in the pot, since with the kettle it will only take a few minutes for it to reach the boiling point.

With a kettle, everything is easier and it does not require you to have the skills of an expert cook, since with these devices you can prepare some dishes without many complications. For this reason, they are especially useful when you are traveling in a hotel and want to prepare a quick meal; or in the case of a student room that does not have a well-equipped kitchen.

Thinking about this, many manufacturers incorporate in their models the function that allows them to cook some foods inside and thanks to their speed and the safety they provide, it is very easy to prepare tasty meals; you only need water and a few ingredients to quickly cook soup, broths, rice or pasta.

On the other hand, in contrast to conventional kitchen stoves, the heat from the kettle does not only originate from the bottom, but also from the sides. For this reason, the food prepared in this appliance cooks faster and the heat reaches all the food evenly. In addition, you will be saving time and energy.

Likewise, the speed offered by a kettle is another of its advantages. For this reason, if you want to have boiled eggs for breakfast, you will not need to wake up earlier than usual, since with this useful device you will have them ready in just 5 minutes. In the same way, if you prefer salad with eggs, you won’t have to wait for the water to boil in a saucepan to enjoy your favorite dish.

With regard to baby food, with a kettle it is easier to prepare the bottle or just heat it, which you can do in a few minutes and with total hygiene. In addition, some models support the preparation of foods such as purees; however, you should be careful if you want to heat milk, as some kettles could burn with this food.

Discover some dishes that you can prepare in a kettle

The best kettles are ideal for preparing pasta or macaroni, rice, boiled eggs and other recipes. Thanks to this quality, you can save time and have your food faster than you imagine.

deviled eggs

Eggs are a natural source of protein, they are healthy and nutritious and they are also a food that goes well with a wide variety of recipes. They are easy to prepare and in a kettle they will be faster than if you cook them in the traditional way. There is a culinary trick so that the eggs do not spoil during the cooking process. Proceed to puncture their shell with a pin and then put them in an airtight bag inside the kettle, adding water until it is completely covered.

Then turn on the device and once it reaches the boiling point, it will turn off automatically. Next, let the water stand for 6 minutes so that the yolk cooks. After this time, proceed to peel them and prepare some delicious stuffed eggs; you can mix the yolks with tuna, mayonnaise and canned peppers.

asian noodles

This typical dish of Asian cuisine, also called noodles, is sold in curvy, block-like packages. It is a paste widely used to prepare soups and its cooking time is very short; so it is easy to cook it in the kettle. For this recipe you have two options: one of them is to boil water and then pour it into a bowl with the pasta, cover and wait; the other option is to put the noodles directly into the kettle. If you go for the latter, you could make a healthier Asian soup, since you can add spices and vegetables cut into small pieces.

Rice

Although it is best to use bags of rice in its quick cooking version, you can also prepare rice at home. To do this, you must soak the rice for 30 minutes so that it cooks faster. For this recipe, a kettle without the automatic safety shut-off function would be more appropriate.

You just have to put the previously soaked cereal in the water and once it starts to boil, wait between 10 to 20 minutes (depending on the type of rice). It is important to supply enough water to prevent it from sticking and once this time has elapsed, you will be able to check if it is still raw or if it has finished cooking. With the rice ready and cooked, you will be able to prepare a rice salad in a short time; for which you can use fruits, fresh vegetables, nuts or whatever you prefer.
