More about the first electric Dacia car

Renault’s subsidiary, Dacia, is preparing to launch its first electric car, which will mark the appearance of the first cheap “clean car”. The arrival of this Dacia Spring is expected by the end of 2022 or the beginning of 2022 and this is all you know about it.

For all users who are waiting for cheap electric cars, they can celebrate the arrival of the new Dacia Spring, the brand’s first electric car. With this model, the Renault Group reinforces its commitment to sustainable cars, with the added value of offering a suitable vehicle for all budgets.

One of the main characteristics of electric cars is still the price. These cars usually require a higher investment than traditional models with combustion engines. In this sense, Dacia is committed to continuing with its hallmarks and offers what will surely be the cheapest electric car on the market. In this sense, the Spring is a car designed for urban use, specifically for domestic users and shared mobility services, which are the most common uses in cities.

The Dacia Spring seeks to bring electric mobility closer to the average user, who cannot pay amounts greater than 30,000 euros. In this sense, although there is still no official information from the Renault Group, a leak from the German automobile magazine Automobilwoche reported that the price could be around 15,000 euros. In countries with help for electric mobility, the price could be even lower. In Spain, for example, the Moves Plan offers an incentive of 5,000 euros to users who buy 100% electric cars, so the final price would be 10,000 euros, making it the best value for money electric car.

What will the Dacia Spring be like?

If you want to buy a cheap electric car, the Dacia Spring will be a small urban utility, SUV type. In fact, the design may recall the Dacia Sandero, the brand’s most iconic model.

It will be a five-door crossover with capacity for four people, characterized by its simplicity, as well as accessibility and robustness. As for the exterior design, the model that has been shown for the moment, has a dark gray color, with very attractive finishes and details in fluorine orange.

The main difference with the Dacia Sandero is in its front grille, which in this model will be more compact and will be in a higher position. This change in design, more than an aesthetic decision, is due to the position of the lithium car batteries, which will be collected under the floor of the cabin.

The headlights will also be different from those of the Sandero, since in this case they will have LED technology. The design will follow the current trend among the models on the market, placing the daytime running lights above the main lights. In this case, the main headlight will be made up of four elements integrated into the bumper itself. The rear lights, also with LED technology, will have a double “Y” shape. On the other hand, the rims, black and diamond effect, will be 14” (35 cm).

Regarding the total size of the vehicle, it is a compact SUV, for mainly urban use, since due to its electric motor it will not have a good “offroad” performance. In this sense, it will have a distance between the axes of just over two meters, so it is expected that the interior will have a modular space for up to four occupants. The trunk, for its part, will have a total space of 300 litres, more than enough to carry all your luggage with you on your outings and trips.

Inside, we will find a Media Nav navigation system, with a 7” screen compatible with Android and Apple CarPlay operating systems, as well as Bluetooth connectivity. It also has a screen for the driver, with parking aids, with a rear view camera and 100% electric power steering.

How is the Dacia Spring engine?

Dacia is a brand that stands out for manufacturing new economical cars, in this sense, we will find an engine from the City k-ZE group with 45 CV and 125 Nm of torque, powered by a 26.8 kWh battery that will be able to offer autonomy over 200 km and up to six hours for urban circulation without the need to recharge the battery.

Del City k-ZE engines are designed for cheap hybrid cars, from the Renault Group, which was already used for the Renault City k-ZE, a cheap and functional model created especially to sell in the Chinese market.

The lithium-ion battery will be placed in a lower space inside the passenger compartment. Its autonomy has been tested through WLTP cycle homologation, in which it is subjected to different driving conditions, checking how it responds under pressure, as well as analyzing the total autonomy under extreme conditions.

The Dacia Spring will be sold together with a ZE Ready Charge, a domestic charging station that can be installed at home to recharge the battery when necessary. In this sense, the car has fast charging, capable of recovering 80% of the total charge in less than an hour.

Dacia’s electric car will compete with other electric cars intended for the urban sector and shared mobility, such as the Seat Mii Electric, the Honda e, the new Mini Electric or the more veteran BMW i3. However, the brand that stands out for its affordable prices relies on this feature to stand out from its competition.
