What to do if the Play Store is not working

If you have a Samsung, OnePlus, Pixel or Xiaomi mobile, then you use the Android system. And one of the most important apps is Play Store. If this app fails you, you will not be able to download anything on your mobile, which is a considerable problem.

Within the wide range of apps that the Android operating system makes available to us, there is one that is essential: the Play Store. This app is the one that allows us to install new applications on our terminal and access proposals such as the latest fashion game, the app of your favorite social network or even an app to connect your baby changing table to the mobile, which exists as strange as it may seem.

The problem is that, if the Play Store does not open, we will not be able to download new apps or update the ones that we have installed on the device. For this reason, it is essential to solve the problems that we have with Google PlayStore, in order to keep our device always up to date and with the apps that we want in its latest version.

basic problems

Before knowing how to fix problems with the Google Play Store, it is worth checking the simplest causes, which are sometimes the ones that cause the failure. For example, if Google Play doesn’t download, we may not have a network connection at the time. A problem as easy to solve as checking the Internet connection and reconnecting to the WiFi or mobile network, if necessary.

Another possibility is that we do not have available space on the device. If the internal storage is scarce, it is possible that there is no place to download the app we want. Or there may be to store that app, but not to install it. To solve this inconvenience, all you have to do is run the cleaning wizard and delete anything you don’t need from the device or uninstall the apps you don’t need, depending on your preference.

The last easy bug to fix has to do with the date and time of the device. It is a rare error, since almost all devices have the function of updating their date and time remotely activated. But in the event that this happens, it is also something easy to solve, through the Date and Time option, which is found in the Settings menu of the device.

advanced problems

We list below some more complex problems, although still simple to solve. In fact, you don’t have to be an expert in this type of device to access the correct option and solve these problems.

Sometimes, we see a message that tells us that “the Google Play services app has stopped”, without being able to run the app or do anything with it. One of the easiest solutions to fix the problem is to clear the app cache. To do this, we will access the list of applications through the settings menu and select Google Play Store. We will force stop the app and then select the Clear Cache option. This option can be accessed from the Clear Data button.

This usually fixes the problem, but if the Google Play services app keeps stopping, more drastic measures will need to be taken. Another easy solution is the one that can be executed to solve that the app does not have the necessary version, so updating the Play Store can solve it. You can try to update it on the fly, for which you should have the corresponding button active. If it doesn’t let you, then you can try uninstalling and then reinstalling the app again.

As a more radical option, in case you continue to see the “Google Play application has stopped” error, it is to reset the Google user account. To do this, we will access Settings, Accounts section, Google and choose Remove Account. In this process, we will not lose data, since they will be synchronized once we restart the device and access the account again.

If finally this does not solve our problem, it will be time to move on to the big steps. And it is that the last option that we have left is to restore the mobile to its factory state, in order to try to recover its functionality. This option is accessible through the settings menu, backup and factory data reset. Do not forget to make a backup of your content, contacts, photos and others, because the phone will be as if it had just been taken out of the box.

Common error codes

In addition to the solutions that we have mentioned, it is also important that you know some common error codes. Knowing these errors can save you a lot of trouble and help you when you are wondering how to fix problems with this app.

Error retrieving information from server: This error appears when the application is downloaded, but there is an error in the Google servers. Most of the time it resolves itself, but otherwise you’d have to clear cache and force reload data from Google servers.

Error DF-AA-09: This error appears when we execute purchases in Google PlayStore. Sometimes the card has problems, it can’t connect to the platform, the process doesn’t complete or hangs before it completes successfully. We can verify after a while if the app has been purchased or not, accessing the movements of our Google or our bank account.

Error RH-01 or Error RPC:S-5:AEC-0: These errors are derived from problems when accessing Google servers. Cleaning the cache is usually enough to solve them. If not, try removing your account from the terminal and associate it again.

“package file invalid” error: The last error that we are going to highlight and that is also easy to solve. This error occurs when there are errors in the download, either because it has not been carried out correctly or because the package was corrupt or damaged at the source. Clear cache helps to solve this, by allowing you to run a new download without the remains of the previous one.
